Summary of 2025 ABA Coding Coalition Activities

Letters of Advocacy
The Coalition has been busy advocating for the ABA community over the past several months. Thanks to feedback and inquiries submitted through our website, we have been able to engage with numerous Medicaid (AR, IN, KY, PA, SC, TN, VA, VT, and WI) and commercial (Michigan Aetna and BCBS of Michigan) payers. Our advocacy efforts include education about rounding rules and concurrent billing. In addition, we have provided guidance for the proper use of codes 97153, 97154, 97155, 97158, 0362T, and 0373T specifically. To submit inquiries or concerns regarding the use of the CPT® adaptive behavior service codes, use the Contact feature on the website.
OIG Engagement
Members from the Coalition met with the Office of the Inspector General in September for a collaborative effort to ensure better understanding of the ABA code set in response to the recent release of the Indiana and Wisconsin OIG reports. During this meeting, Coalition representatives provided guidance and offered suggestions that could lead to better audit outcomes for providers in the future. During that meeting, the OIG committed to working with the Coalition and other stakeholders in the future to provide education around federal audits, including at the 2026 APBA and CASP conferences in New Orleans and Las Vegas, respectively.
Conference Presentations and Webinars
In 2025, ABA Coding Coalition members provided presentations on the codes for adaptive behavior services and related topics at numerous webinars hosted by various organizations and at several state, regional, and national conferences including APBA, CASP, and the Autism Law Summit. If you or your organization are interested in having someone from the Coding Coalition present on these topics, please use the Contactfeature on the website.
